James Auckland
After an impressive career as an ATP professional, GB Davis Cupper and Grand Slam player, James wanted a new challenge…so he had three kids!  Though he's a Level 5 Master Performance Coach who's coached top 100 players and Wimbledon Champions, he says playing tennis with his kids at their local park has reminded him of the joy tennis can bring to people’s lives. As our lead programme designer, if young ones are busy splatting monsters in their space-themed tots sessions or not so young ones are re-living last week's winning shots in the cafe, James can go to bed happy... until his kids wake him up, that is.

Hello! I'm an Accredited+ LTA Level 3 Professional Tennis Coach with 15 years of experience. I love teaching, playing & watching tennis! Particularly watching Rafa fight for every single point & Roger’s perfect technique. Serena & Venus were my inspiration. I am passionate about sharing my love & knowledge for this magnificent game. I love that tennis brings people from all walks of life together. My own tennis journey began at the age of four in a West London Park, I then went on to win the U18 Middlesex County Championships at the age of 12. As a Junior player I was ranked top in the country and competed in GB Nationals & internationally in the renowned Orange Bowl International Championship. Later I gained a full sports scholarship to study & compete at an American University. I’m still competitive, particularly when I’m playing Monopoly with my family! Likes: Travelling, Global Politics, Mamma Mia, Country Music & Hip-Hop. An eclectic taste! Dislikes: Injuries! I enjoy teaching all ages & abilities from Adult Beginners to Performance Juniors with a particular enthusiasm for perfecting technique! If you're keen to improve your game, get fit & have fun on court come along to one of our group sessions. Lee Murray
Hi all, I began playing Tennis at the age of 15 years old.  It is a sport that I wish I discovered sooner because I developed a real passion for playing not so friendly matches against my friend every week!  I started coaching at 17 years old and I have been doing it ever since.  My coaching has primarily been working with junior players from mini tennis groups, schools, and competition level development players.  My favourite tennis player is Roger Federer.  I support West Ham United.  My favourite food would have to be a takeaway Chinese (with the family).  I drink too much tea.  My favourite shot to teach is probably the One-Handed Backhand – please don’t think that I will turn you into the next Roger Federer though!  Best advice I would give to a young budding tennis player – Don’t rush, embrace the challenges that Tennis can provide. Mobile: 07903331199

Become a Premier Tennis coach

We employ coaches at different levels to run and support a wide variety of programmes. Currently, there are opportunities to coach on our club, school, park and holiday club programmes, as well as individual private lessons which we are regularly asked about.

All Premier Tennis coaches are required to be DBS checked and have the relevant first aid qualification; they must also successfully demonstrate their coaching ability and attend training sessions with our coaching team as required. Get in touch with us to find out more.

What do Premier Tennis coaches receive?

Premier Tennis coaches are rewarded well, and in return, we expect a high degree of professionalism – which is nothing less than our customers demand or deserve.

We have excellent opportunities for ongoing coach education with our in-house partner Growing the Game. This enables us to create bespoke coaching courses for achieving Level 1 and 2 or above, often at a discount, with like-minded and motivated coaches.

You will also benefit from our own additional training, as we are committed to ensuring all our coaches are fully up to speed on age-appropriate drills and teaching techniques, as well as customer service expectations.

Further off-court support is available to our in-house coaches and local partners in the form of mentoring, marketing, customer service and administration, finance and legal advice.

How you can join the team

If you are an existing or aspiring coach looking for additional work, get in touch on 01865 689754 or fill in our contact form and we’ll get back to you.

If you are an established manager of coaching programmes keen to go to the next level to grow your tennis business, drop a line in the first instance to our Director of Tennis, James Auckland, to see how we can help.
